The two best-selling eyeglass lenses are the most basic ones: CR-39 and the polycarbonate materials which are both plastic. If you have a single-vision prescription (glasses for farsightedness or nearsightedness), you can generally get by with CR-39 lenses. If we are talking about which lenses perform the best, then choosing a prescription eyeglass lens with a higher refractive index gives you better lens performance/optics. Lenses made with Glass have a higher refractive index than plastic lenses so when speaking about optics glass eyeglass lenses aesthetically look better and perform better than any plastic material.
If we are talking progressive lenses. it's completely dependent on the person and their visual needs. As a licensed Optician I have handled and dealt with every lens manufacturer and the one lens that has stood out due to customer satisfaction would be the Plastic Plus Ultimate progressive lenses. This lens has a wide array of options to help cater to anyones visual needs. The Ultimate lens can be used with any designer frame whether it be Ray-Ban, Prada or Gucci.
Based on your prescription and with help from a licensed Optician you can determine what lens material is appropriate for you. Each lens material have unique properties that may benefit one wearer but not the other, thats why it is very important to have a qualified Optician or Optometrist assist you in your decision on choosing prescription lenses. If you are unsure what material you need feel free to contact Eyecare Showroom 1 (888). 498-3937 for any of your optical questions.
CR39 (Standard plastic lenses)

Depending on what vision correction is need will ultimately determine what contact lens is best for you. If you are looking for Single Vision Daily Contact lenses the two best in the market are; Alcon's Total 1 and Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys 1-Day with Hydralux. As a licensed Optician I have fit many people with contact lenses and unfortunately there is not a contact lens in the market that caters to everyone, its about finding the correct lens for your visual needs. Some factors to consider when ordering contact lens are;
4:1 rule this rule is not law but it is recommended, this occurs when the spherical prescription is x4 stronger/higher than your cylinder power for example. -2.00 -0.50 x 180. With a prescription like that you can mask your astigmatism by adding half your cylinder power onto your spherical power resulting in a spherical contact lens prescription being -2.25
If you don't have a 4:1 ratio or close to it, than going into Toric or Astigmatic lens would be recommended for optimal vision. Another crucial thing to factor in when deciding on what lens is best for you is size. By choosing the correct size you ensure then lens vaults over your eye correctly and allows for optimal stability with the correct amount of movement.
As for overall health of the eye daily lenses will be the best choice for your eyes as they are much healthier due to their increase in oxygen permeability and high water content that insure your eyes stay hydrated and moist throughout the day. With that in mind Alcon's Total 1 and Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys 1-Day with Hydralux will perform the best as they have the highest water content and oxygen permeability in the market.

RAY-BAN SUNGLASSES & EYEGLASSES
What is Rayban?
Rayban is an American owned eyewear company that has been made famous for their iconic Aviator and Wayfarer Sunglasses. Established in 1929 by US Army Air Corps Colonel John A. Macready in collaboration with Bauch & Lomb a New York medical equipment manufacturer. Together they tackled an issue that has been plaguing aviation pilots from the beginning, the lack of clarity and vision at high altitudes. In 1936 RayBan created a solution to this issue with their lens prototype called “Anti Glare” which was a plastic frame with green lenses that helped cut out the glare without reducing visibility. They improved on their frame design by creating the classic sunglass frame we all know and love today, the “Aviators” which also go by the model number of RB3025.
How did they become so big?
Rayban became a household name in the sunglass industry with their flagship model RB3025 also known as “Aviators”. In the 1950’s The Aviators were worn by many famous public figures such as; Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. During the 1950’s mimicking military style was part of the culture of that time making RayBan Aviators the hottest designer sunglasses in the world.
Why do people choose RayBans?
Being the creators of the aviator sunglasses, Rayban has cemented themselves as one of the most iconic and influential sunglass manufacturers in the world with 1 out of every 5 sunglasses sold in the world being a RayBan sunglass. Almost every icon the world since RayBan’s inception in the early 1930’s has owned or if not worn a pair of RayBan Sunglasses.
What’s their most iconic frame?
Rayban is most known for their iconic sunglass models “RB3025 Aviator” and “RB3016 Wayfarer” These sunglasses come in a large variety of colours and sizes due to the high demand. You will find the aviator and wayfarers design copied by almost every luxury brand in the world whether it be Maui Jim, Prada, Versace ect… The Aviator and Wayfarer are a timeless design that transcends any fad or trend.
Who owns RayBan?
In 1999 Bauch & Lomb sold the Rayban Brand to the Italian Eyecare conglomerate to The Luxottica Group for $640 Million. Luxottica is the largest eyewear company in the world and has there hands in some of the most popular and iconic brands ever sought after, which include Armani, Burberry, Bulgari, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Coach, Michael Kors, Mui Mui, Prada, Oakley, Oliver Peoples, Persol, RayBan, Tiffany & Co., Tory Burch, Versace and more.
Why are Ray Bans so expensive?
Name brands, including Ray-Ban, typically offer lenses with UV protection, and some take it a step further with polarized lenses, which can also increase the price. There's also manufacturing and shipping costs that are factored into the price.
